Martinez delighted with Scotland

Roberto Martinez
Martinez has seen Swansea pick up six points from their first nine

Swansea boss Roberto Martinez praised striker Jason Scotland for his display in the 1-0 win over Plymouth.

Last season's League One top scorer Scotland, 29, got off the mark for the season with his first half strike.

And Martinez said: "To see him the goal-scoring touch back is something that's very important but I'm pleased for him because he worked very hard.

"It wasn't just the goal, it was the movement. He created chances and opened up the back four."

Scotland is still finding full fitness after undergoing a stomach operation in the summer.

"When you get a little injury in pre-season, it's always hard because you are catching up, " said Martinez.

Scotland added: "It's good to get off the mark but it's good to get the three points as well.

"I've had to work hard to get fully fit but that will take about another week."
