The Dutchman has impressed Swans boss Roberto Martinez
Michael van der Heijden's proposed move to Swansea City is off after the deal collapsed on Thursday.
The Dutch midfielder was due to sign a permanent deal with the Championship new boys after a successful trial spell and go on loan to League One Hereford.
"Michael was with us for a few days and there is a strong possibility he could sign for a League One club," said boss Roberto Martinez.
"That's until January and he then needs how he's adapted to British football."
Van der Heijden scored in the Swans 5-0 friendly win over Neath last month.
The former ADO Den Haag player has been released by Dutch third division side FC Lisse.
Meanwhile, youngster Chris Jones has joined Blue Square Premier side Cambridge United on a half-season loan.
The 18-year-old striker has made nine first-team appearances since making his debut in October 2006.
