Brandy makes Swans goal promise

Brandy will offer competition up front for Roberto Martinez

Febian Brandy has vowed to be a hit for Swansea City in the Championship next season.

The Manchester United teenager has returned to the Liberty Stadium on loan as the Swans plan for their first season in the second tier for 24 years.

Brandy could play his first game in his second spell at Swansea against Spanish team Espanyol on Friday.

"Im determined to play a bigger part this season by starting more games and scoring goals," said striker Brandy.

The England Under-19 international scored three goals in 21 games for Swansea last season but made just two league starts as Roberto Martinez's men romped to the League One title.

"I would have liked to have had a few more starts last season," said Brandy.

"But I enjoyed the experience.

"Playing in the Championship will be a step up but it will be a bigger and better challenge for me - one I am looking forward to."

Brandy offers strength in depth up-front for Swansea as the 19-year-old Old Trafford rookie faces competition from Gorka Pintado, Andrea Orlandi, Guillem Bauza and last season's top-scorer Jason Scotland.

Brandy was reacquainted with his Swansea team-mates on Tuesday evening as the Championship new boys jetted off for their pre-season tour to Spain.

Just hours after arriving near Barcelona, the Swansea team were caught by an earthquake that measured 3.6 on the Richter scale.

A Swansea City spokesman confirmed: "No-one was injured.

"I don't think any of the boys noticed. It was about midnight so most of the lads were in bed."

Swansea's first game of their pre-season tour is at Palamos against La Liga giants Espanyol on 25 July (1900 BST).
