Roberto Martinez described Swansea City's championship-winning promotion from League One as "fantastic".

The Swans ended their season with a 1-0 win at Brighton and a club-record 92 points.

The Spanish boss said: "To finish with a win wraps up a fantastic season for Swansea City.

"It's all about being champions. What is clear is that we got promoted with a little bit of a margin and now we can celebrate with the fans."

Martinez praised the hard work of his players after they were finally presented with the League One trophy after the game.

"I think we've got a philosophy as a football club throughout the years with our legends and the golden years (under John Toshack) and I think this season all of the boys have written their own chapter in that football history."

Midfielder Owain Tudur Jones paid tribute to Martinez.

"He came in and changed different aspects and he obviously had his beliefs about the way the game should be played," said Jones.

"I'm sure there were some reservations of whether we would be successful in this division by playing some good football and I think the gaffer has proved a lot of people that we can."

Captain Garry Monk said lifting the League One trophy was the "highest moment" of his career.
