Andy Robinson joined Swansea in the summer of 2003
Swansea City midfielder Andy Robinson says he hopes to tie up a new contract with the club next week.
The influential Scouser's deal runs out at the end of the season and he does not want a repeat of the drawn out negotiations of two years ago.
"We've got a meeting on the 30th of this month and hopefully we will sort it out on that day," said Robinson, 28.
"I want to play for Swansea City in the Championship and that is the main thing."
Swansea rejected a 300,000 bid from Cardiff and a 200,000 offer from Southend for Robinson in the close season two years ago.
The bids came at a time when negotiations with Swansea had reached a stalemate after Robinson rejected their "exceptional and final offer" of a new contract.
But a deal was finally struck and now, two years on, Robinson has got his wish to play for the Swans in the Championship.
"I have built up a rapport with the fans and the best I can do is honour them in the Championship, which is a league that I've been crying out for, for the last two seasons," he said.
"I'm just glad to be a Championship player with Swansea City at this moment in time and I look forward to the job in hand."
Robinson joined Swansea on a free transfer in 2003 after a successful trial period at their old Vetch Field home.
He went on to win the Player of the Year award in his first season and has been a consistent performer in the Swansea midfield ever since.
The midfielder has chalked up his fair share of goals along the way, including 10 so far this season in all competitions.
