Swansea City have awarded youth product Chris Jones with his first professional contract. The 17-year-old striker or winger as been with Swansea for nine years, and rejected offers to join Blackburn Rovers and Manchester City last season.
"I was tempted an came very close to leaving," Jones told the club website.
"I've seen so many players from Swansea leave the area for so-called bigger clubs only to return disillusioned within two years."
Jones broke into the first-team squad a fortnight ago when he was an unused substitute for the League One match against Crewe.
Swansea manager Kenny Jackett said: "He has done enough for us to take him on from the youth group and put him with the professionals to try to bring him on. He's earned that standard-wise.
"He's very quick with or without the ball and his finishing is very good.
"He can play centre forward off a big man or he can play wide right.
