Sunderland striker Danny Welbeck has revealed his delight at making a return to first-team action in Saturday's goalless draw at Arsenal.
The 20-year-old came on as a substitute in his first appearance since suffering a torn cartilage in January's 1-0 win at Aston Villa.
"I'm delighted to be back," Welbeck told BBC Newcastle.
"It's been about two months since I've played a game so just to get back out on the pitch is a big boost for me."
Welbeck added: "It's always frustrating to get injured, I wasn't going to sit at home and dwell on it, I took it as a positive, focused my mind on getting fit.
"I want to get a lot more training sessions under my belt, and hopefully I'll be up to full match fitness."
The forward, on loan from Manchester United, spent much of his rehabilitation at his parent club but kept in with the Black Cats by attending home matches at the Stadium of Light.
"I'm always a fan, I love football really, so any game I'll watch and you can learn from any match whatever level it is," the England Under-21 international continued.
"Just watching games, taking them as a positive, and seeing what you can gain from it is always beneficial."
Since completing a loan move to Sunderland in August, Welbeck has scored six goals in 23 games.
