Sunderland have announced the departure of centre-back Paulo da Silva to Real Zaragoza for an undisclosed fee.
The 30-year-old Paraguay international joined the Black Cats from Toluca in 2009 on a three-year deal and played 21 games last season.
But he has appeared only three times this term and becomes the third player to leave permanently during January.
Darren Bent joined Aston Villa this month and fellow striker David Healy moved to Rangers on Sunday.
Da Silva's new club are 15th in Spain's La Liga with 22 points from 21 games.
The defender featured in all five of his country's matches at the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa.
