Fulop says the backing of the fans can keep Sunderland in the top flight
Sunderland goalkeeper Marton Fulop has hailed the club's fans as the fight for Premier League survival intensifies.
The Black Cats' 0-0 draw at Bolton on Saturday means they are just two points clear of the relegation places.
Fulop told BBC Newcastle: "It was brilliant that 5,000 Sunderland fans came, they were fantastic.
"They are very loyal fans, even if we didn't play well in the last two games, they still like us and it's a great feeling to have them on our side."
"Even if you're away (like at Bolton), you feel at home and they were superb and I can't praise them enough," he added.
Looking ahead to the final two games against Portsmouth and Chelsea, Fulop said: "We have two more games and we need to ensure mathematical safety as soon as we can.
"If we can get a point or a win at Portsmouth, that could be enough."
