Edwards was pressed into action as a substitute in the defeat by West Ham
Sunderland winger Carlos Edwards said he was delighted to be back on Wearside, despite enjoying his loan spell at Championship side Wolves.
Edwards, 27, moved to Molineux to gain fitness but was recalled to Sunderland to appear in Sunday's 1-0 Premier League defeat by West Ham.
"Being back is absolutely wonderful," he told BBC Radio Newcastle.
"Seeing that the manager still has me in his plans is great but it wasn't the ideal return unfortunately."
The Trinidad and Tobago international is a popular figure on Wearside for his performances in the promotion season, and enjoyed a similar rapport with Wolves fans during his short spell.
And Edwards believes that the temporary switch to Molineux was worthwhile and hopes to benefit in the future.
"I only went out on loan for me to get my sharpness and it paid dividends," he said.
"It's a different league in the Championship and totally different football.
"It's news to my ears that the [Wolves] fans didn't want me to leave so soon, but coming back to Sunderland is where I want to be."
Edwards joined Sunderland from Luton Town in January 2007 for 1.5m.
