Sunderland winger Carlos Edwards will not be forced back into action by boss Roy Keane despite making good progress in recovering from a broken leg. Edwards was pencilled in for the Black Cats' reserves' friendly with Bradford on Wednesday but did not play.
Manager Roy Keane told the club website: "Carlos has joined in with us and is looking to step it up.
"The fact he broke his leg might have helped his hamstring. We'll push him over the next two weeks."
