Nosworthy joined Sunderland from Gillingham in June 2005 |
Sunderland defender Nyron Nosworthy will be out for up to six weeks after tearing his hamstring during Saturday's 1-1 draw with Newcastle. Nosworthy, who has been standing in as captain in the absence of the injured Dean Whitehead, pulled up in the first half after suffering a muscle tear.
Sunderland boss Roy Keane confirmed on the club website: "He will be out for between four and six weeks.
"I thought it was fairly serious as it takes a lot for him to come off."

Nosworthy was set to win his first international cap for Jamaica when they play El Salvador this weekend.
Meanwhile, Whitehead is continuing his comeback from the knee ligament problems that have kept him out since August and is expected to play against Falkirk in Andy Lawrie's testimonial on Thursday.
