 Striker O'Donovan has signed a three-year deal |
Sunderland have signed Cork striker Roy O'Donovan for an undisclosed fee. O'Donovan, 21, underwent a medical at the Stadium of Light on Thursday and has signed a three-year deal.
Fulham had wanted to sign the Republic of Ireland 'B' international, but O'Donovan said Sunderland boss Roy Keane had been very persuasive.
"I had a choice between Fulham and Sunderland but when I spoke to the gaffer my mind was made up," O'Donovan told the Sunderland website.
Cork had previously confirmed that a verbal agreement had been reached with the Craven Cottage club, for a fee reportedly of 530,000.
