 Whitehead is relishing the challenge of moving to Sunderland |
Sunderland have made their third summer signed by adding Oxford midfielder Dean Whitehead to their squad. The 22-year-old, who was the U's player of the year, has signed a three-year contract with the Black Cats.
Whitehead has made over 100 appearances for Oxford who he joined as a trainee, making his league debut in August 2000.
He told the Sunderland website: "I've seen them play and I know that there are a lot of good players, including a lot of international players."
He added: "There are some very good midfielders here already but I'll work very hard and hopefully get a place in the side."
