Gillies enjoyed two five-year spells with St Mirren |
Stranraer have snapped up former St Mirren and Aberdeen forward Ricky Gillies on a one-year contract. "He is a player that we have been tracking for some time," manager Gerry Britton told the club website.
"He has been training with us for a couple of weeks and he has shown that extra level of composure and experience that you would expect.
"This is a good capture for us as around three to four other clubs were keeping close tabs on him."
Gillies, 30, began his career at St Mirren in 1992 before moving on to Aberdeen for 350,000 in 1997.
He returned to Love Street in 2000 and played another five years for the Buddies.
His last spell in Scotland was with Partick Thistle in the 2005/06 season and he arrives at Stair Park after a nine-month stint in New Zealand.
