Neil Watt led Stranraer to two straight promotions |
Stranraer have started the search for a new manager after anouncing that Neil Watt will leave the club in the summer after three years in charge. The Stair Park outfit are second from bottom of the First Division and have accepted Watt's decision.
A club statement read: "It is with regret that we announce our manager will be leaving the club at the end of the current season.
"Neil intimated some months ago that this would be his last season."
Stranraer have slipped four points behind third-bottom Queen of the South with two games remaining.
They now look likely to face a play-off against a club from the Second Division to retain their place in Scotland's second top league.
But the club stressed: "By making this announcement today, it enables us to have sufficient time to work towards having a new person in place for the beginning of next season."
Watt took charge of Stranraer in 2003 and led the club to the Third Division title in his first season then promotion as runners-up in Division Two the following season.
