Jamaican international striker Fuller, 30, has a history of shoulder problems

Stoke say they are "anxiously" awaiting news of the shoulder injury sustained by striker Ricardo Fuller during their 2-1 away win at Newcastle on Sunday.

The Jamaican international, 30, went straight to hospital after appearing to dislocate his right shoulder after coming on as a second-half substitute.

"We're just keeping our fingers crossed that they'll be able to pop it back in," said Stoke manager Tony Pulis.

When Fuller suffered the same injury two years ago he was out for 10 days.

"We're hoping that will be the case again," Pulis told the club's official website.

"If he's out for any longer it will be a massive blow to us because he is a game-changer. He's as good as anyone at coming on and making a a difference, and he was bright and fresh before the injury."

Stoke were 1-0 down at St James' Park when Pulis brought Fuller on for Glenn Whelan just after half-time.

And the addition of an extra striker turned the match in their favour, with Kenwyne Jones heading an equaliser before a late own goal from James Perch gave them their first away points of the season.

Pulis also accused an unnamed Newcastle player of feigning injury after a week in which his club came in for criticism following Andy Wilkinson's midweek challenge on Fulham striker Moussa Dembele.

"I was really disappointed when one of the Newcastle players went down and I think simulated an injury from a challenge," stated Pulis. "Three passes later, he jumped up and was running around as if nothing had happened."

Though he called on the Professional Footballers' Association to demand higher standards of behaviour from its members, Newcastle boss Chris Hughton dismissed Pulis's claims.

"I would be very, very surprised," said Hughton. "We were up against a hard-running, very physical side in Stoke who certainly put themselves about.

"But I certainly didn't see any play-acting from any of our players."

Despite recent away wins against Everton and Chelsea, Hughton added that he was disappointed after seeing his side slip to a second successive home defeat.

"We knew this was going to be a tough season and we knew it is a season where we are probably going to lose more games than we win," he said.

"I am realistic enough to know where we are at this moment."
