Penalty decision correct - Fuller

Ricardo Fuller
Fuller scored his sixth goal of the season against Hull on Saturday

Stoke City striker Ricardo Fuller has insisted he was fouled for the penalty which he converted to equalise in the 1-1 draw with Hull City.

Referee Keith Stroud awarded Fuller a spot-kick after he was brought down by Hull goalkeeper Boaz Myhill.

Fuller told BBC Radio Stoke: "He pulled back my leg as I nicked the ball away from him, so it was a definite penalty.

"The keeper got a hand to the penalty, but it went in the back of the net and that's the important thing."

Hull were accused of gamesmanship after the match by some pundits.

Substitute Dean Windass was booked for warming up in front of Rory Delap as he prepared to take a throw-in, and several Hull players stood on the goal line before Fuller's 73rd-minute equaliser.

The Jamaican international said: "Players will do what they think is best for their team to try and get an advantage.

"They tried to distract me, but the penalty ended up in the back of the net and that's all that matters."

The Potters play their Carling Cup quarter-final against Derby at the Britannia Stadium on Tuesday night, and Fuller will not be taking progression to the last four for granted.

He added: "We've had a good cup run so far, and hopefully we can continue that on Tuesday against Derby.

"The best team on the day will win the match, so hopefully we'll be good enough on the day."
