Pericard had a spell on loan with Southampton last season

Vincent Pericard is hoping to earn a new contract with Stoke City after scoring in Tuesday's Carling Cup victory over Reading.

It was the 25-year-old's first goal in two years and only his fourth since moving from Portsmouth in June 2006.

Pericard, whose contract expires next summer, told BBC Radio Stoke: "I'm knocking on the manager's door, he know's I'm here.

"Hopefully with more games, I can change his mind."
