Stoke forward Mama Sidibe has admitted he is frustrated at having scored only twice this season.
The 28-year-old Mali international told BBC Radio Stoke: "As a striker you are judged by how many goals you score.
"You can work hard, but the goals are the most important thing. This is what is letting me down and it is not easy but I will keep trying.
"The manager wants me to play behind the striker looking after the midfield so it is not easy to score goals."
Sidibe has also said that he feels his place in the starting line-up may be under threat after the arrival of Jay Bothroyd on loan from Wolves.
"With a player like Bothroyd on the bench I sometimes fell less confident, but if the manager still wants me to be on the pitch then that is good. It's a strange feeling."
