Paterson joined Scunthorpe in the summer |
Stoke City's director of football John Rudge is disappointed with the fee they will get for striker Martin Paterson. A tribunal on Wednesday ruled that the Potters will receive 305,000 from Scunthorpe and could be paid a further 120,000 based on appearances.
"We are very disappointed with the verdict as we feel it falls well short of our valuation for him," Rudge told the club's website.
"We had Martin at the club since he was nine years old," he added.
The 20-year-old Northern Ireland striker joined the Iron in the summer after rejecting a new contract at the Britannia Stadium.
Paterson is Scunthorpe's top scorer in the Championship this season with seven goals.
Stoke's managing director Tony Scholes was also left disappointed by the final outcome.
"The tribunal made the decision and we have got to accept it," Scholes said. "At the end of the day we got more than four times the amount originally offered to us by Scunthorpe."
