Brightwell joins Stoke
Stoke City have signed Walsall's former Manchester City midfielder Ian Brightwell until the end of the season.

The 33-year-old left-sided player has been released by Walsall having been part of their promotion winning team last season.

He joins Tony Dinning as the Potters second signing within two days.

"After promotion with Walsall last season it's exciting to be in that position again," Brightwell told Stoke's website.

"I'm local to the area and I know how much promotion would mean to the fans.

"We've got five big games left and they are not going to be easy. Brentford on Saturday is a massive one because they are going for promotion as well and at this stage it can be all about holding your nerve.

"I've kept a watch on City's results this season. At Christmas they were averaging two points a game, had a blip after that, but recent results suggests the team is on a roll again.

"Hopefully an injection of new faces for the final few games will keep the impetus going."
