The Stockport board have promised Simpson recruitment funds
New Stockport County manager Paul Simpson says he will need the help of local clubs to strengthen his squad for the new season.
The former Rochdale manager has just four weeks to try and assemble a squad for the League Two campaign.
Simpson told BBC Radio Manchester: "Everybody in the north west will realise the difficulties Stockport have had and they'll all try and help.
"I'll be making phone calls to all of the clubs and asking for favours."
"We'll have to go and see if clubs will help us out, because we need everybody to help" he said.
Simpson's predecessor at Edgeley Park Gary Ablett was restricted severely with the club in administration, but the Stockport board claim Simpson should be able to work with the budget he has been given.
New chairman Alwin Thompson said: "There's sufficient funds for him to make his decisions and make us competitive. We should be fine financially."
Simpson is confident he can assemble a squad before the new season starts.
He said: "It's obviously enough in my mind to be able to go and put a squad together. I know that there are a hell of a lot of footballers still wanting clubs and wanting to be a part of professional football.
"What I've got to do is tap into every single contact that we can and try and put a squad together."
