Northern Ireland striker Peter Thompson is in hospital after suffering a collapsed lung.
The Stockport frontman, who joined from Irish League side Linfield in July 2008, had been out of action recently because of a chest infection.
He was back doing light training on Thursday when he experienced breathing difficulties and was taken to hospital where the problem was diagnosed.
Doctors have decided the 24-year-old does not need surgery.
The Hatters expect Thompson to be out for five to six weeks.
