The fans could soon take over at Edgeley Park |
Stockport County Supporters Trust have made a formal offer to buy the League One club from owners Cheshire Sport. Trust spokesman Neil Chapman revealed: "We've given a full, detailed proposal to Cheshire Sport, which we consider is a fair, sensible and reasonable offer.
"If Brian Kennedy (the club's owner) is serious about wanting the club to be a community club, our offer, with rough edges maybe smoothed, will be accepted.
"We expect a positive response from Cheshire Sport in the near future."
The Hatters' owners have been approached by two other interested parties.
But County managing director Kevan Taylor revealed: "We have put other interested parties on ice while we talk to the Trust.
"The offer is under consideration and we're talking to Brian Kennedy and his advisers.
"We're mulling it over and we'll get back to the Trust as soon as possible.
"But there's no deadline because we need to give it serious consideration."
