Stevenage Borough boss Mark Stimson has released six players. The list is headed by Millwall full-back Mark Beard, 32, who made 49 appearances last season but now wants a player-coach role.
Striker Tony Thorpe, 32, who ended last season on loan at Grimsby, has also been freed along with Dale Binns, Mark Hughes, Hasim Deen and Jamie Slabber.
Meanwhile, Stimson has completed the signing of winger Jamie Eames, 17, from Norwich City.
