MacPherson thought his side didn't match Rangers' strength
St Mirren manager Gus MacPherson was disappointed to see his side brushed aside by title-chasing Rangers.
"After losing an early goal and seeing the reaction from Rangers, it was always going to be a test of character," he said after the 3-0 loss.
"The goals we lost were poor, which is not like us.
"We didn't match up to the physical challenge. We lost too many second balls and that's where two of the three goals came from."
St Mirren ended the season in tenth spot on 41 points, which is five more than last term.
And MacPherson is already looking forward to the next campaign.
"It all starts again in seven or eight weeks and we will have a few fresh faces," he told BBC Sport.
"We have already secured Jack Ross, Tom Brighton and Dennis Wyness.
"I've been frustrated to lose out on a couple but I'll be speaking to two more on Tuesday because I'd like to get my business done as early as possible."
