MacPherson targets Caley's Wyness

Inverness striker Dennis Wyness
Wyness has previously had spells with Hearts and Aberdeen

St Mirren manager Gus MacPherson has admitted his interest in signing Inverness striker Dennis Wyness.

The 31-year-old frontman is out of contract at the end of the season and is expected to leave the Highlands club in the summer.

MacPherson told the club website: "We've spoken to Dennis Wyness' representatives with a view to bringing him to St Mirren.

"We are at a talking stage, so nothing has been agreed upon."

MacPherson has also played down speculation linking David van Zanten, Franco Miranda and Stewart Kean with moves away from Love Street, with all three entering the final few weeks of their current contract.

"Basically all it is up to now is paper talk - there are no quotes from players or clubs.

"It seems to be well known that David has rejected a contract offer from us so it is inevitable that there will be interest from other clubs.

"Franco is only on-loan to us from Argentine club CAI. Other than being on-loan to us for the season he is not a St Mirren player.

"Stewart is into the final six months of his contract with us and he is entitled to talk to other clubs - that is all part of the process."
