Dorman expecting a tough replay

MacPherson praised both sides for their cup displays

St Mirren goal hero Andy Dorman is not taking it for granted that his side will ease to victory at home in their Scottish Cup replay with St Johnstone.

"They battled very hard and played a bit of football," he said of the Perth side after the 1-1 draw.

"We'll have another tough task in the next game and we're just happy that our names were in the hat for semi-finals.

"We did not play very well in the first half and it was backs against the wall, but we used the wind in the second."

St Mirren will face one of three opponents should they win the 18 March replay.

Rangers face Hibernian in a delayed fifth-round replay on Sunday and the winners of that play Partick Thistle to decide who progresses in their half of the draw.

But St Mirren manager Gus MacPherson was not thinking of those possibilities.

"At the moment, it is of no concern to us because we appreciate we were in a tough game and we know we are going to get another one at Love Street," he said.

"We would like to get to a semi-final and that is the incentive for both clubs.

"It has not just suddenly changed and we become dramatic favourites now.

"I said before the game that with the type of players St Johnstone have and the experience they've got, they are more than capable."

MacPherson praised his opponents - and his own side - after both used a strong wind to their advantage.

"In the first half, because of St Johnstone's pressure and the wind, we could not get out of our own half," he said.

"But, for all their pressure, St Johnstone did not have many clear-cut chances.

"The players take criticism at times, but you also have to give them praise when it is deserved.

"They were out of the cup, but they showed terrific character and spirit in the manner of their second-half performance."
