MacPherson defends his negativity
St Mirren manager Gus MacPherson
Gus MacPherson does not think his side are secure yet
St Mirren manager Gus MacPherson praised his side's work ethic at East End Park as they all but secured their status in the SPL for another season.

"I am delighted with a point," he said after the 0-0 draw away to bottom side Dunfermline Athletic.

"Everyone was saying it was a must-win game for them.

"We knew we were going to be under pressure a lot and hence the reason we set our stall out the way we did. A lot of credit must go to the defenders."

Dunfermline remain nine points adrift of St Mirren.

But, asked if he thought St Mirren were safe, MacPherson replied: "No, it's a simple answer. "Eight games are left and anything can happen when the split comes a long.

"It is a better point for us than Dunfermline."
