Michael Duberry injury a blow for Saints' boss McInnes
McInnes was unhappy at losing two late goals at Ibrox
St Johnstone manager Derek McInnes admitted his side have been dealt a blow by injury to Michael Duberry.
The influential central defender was forced off by a groin injury midway through the first half of Saints' 4-0 defeat by Rangers at Ibrox on Sunday.
And McInnes said he is facing up to the prospect of being without the 34-year-old for some time.
"We will have a better idea when he gets a scan but it looks like he'll be out for a few weeks anyway," he said.
"It's not looking good to be honest," added McInnes, suggesting that Duberry may have injured himself.
"He's damaged his groin and I think it's his own body weight that's forced it back which, with him being the size he is, you'd have to think he'll be out for a few weeks at least.
"You know, it's a blow, but we've got to get on with it. We can't feel sorry for ourselves and we won't, come Wednesday."
The Saints boss also said he'd been left frustrated at his team losing two late goals - which he felt didn't reflect the effort the Perth team put into the match.
It's not looking good
St Johnstone manager Derek McInnes
"The third and fourth goal were really disappointing because I thought, in the second half, arguably, for a 20-minute spell we were the better team, I thought we carried a threat in the second half and I thought we were pretty comfortable for the majority of the second half.
"It doesn't reflect well on any of us a 4-0 defeat.
"We were always a bit concerned that Rangers had a height advantage on us today, especially with big Duberry going off, but I still expect us to make a better fist of making the challenge
"A 4-0 defeat looks like an absolute drubbing and it was a disappointing day for us," summed-up McInnes.
