Manager Derek McInnes calmed fears over the condition of St Johnstone's Andy Jackson after the striker was stretchered off against St Mirren.

Jackson scored in the Perth side's 2-1 win but was withdrawn after colliding with Buddies goalkeeper Paul Gallacher.

"You're looking at it and it's like a car crash," said McInnes.

"He gets his goal, he gets his head knock that he gets every few games, but he is all right, he is up and about and he's bubbly and enjoying the win."

Jackson missed most of last season due to injury and was awarded a new deal this term in order to give him a chance to prove his fitness.

"I don't know whether he is the bravest boy I've seen or the stupidest," said McInnes.

"He should never have gone for the challenge. He doesn't take his eye off the ball. He is so brave.

"He linked brilliantly with Sam Parkin the whole time he was on the pitch."

Meanwhile, McInnes was delighted to his see his side record their first Scottish Premier League win of the campaign, Parkin scoring the eventual winner at McDiarmid Park.

"A lot was made about last week's performance and how poor it was, and rightly so, but we have had a lot of solid performances," added McInnes.

"What we haven't had is a really good performance, but I thought in spells we were really good and there is no question the three points deserved to stay in Perth.

"It could have been more convincing, but all the qualities you need to win a game were there in abundance."
