St Johnstone boss Derek McInnes queries Rangers winner
Derek McInnes believes his side were unlucky to lose to Rangers at Ibrox
St Johnstone manager Derek McInnes was unhappy with Kenny Miller's winning goal in the 2-1 defeat by Rangers.
"I thought Alan Maybury was barged to the ground. We just feel a real sense of injustice," McInnes said.
"I wanted my side to show character and have the bravery to go and play, which they did do.
"We didn't get a break today but I think we've progressed. Last season we never turned up when we came here. We turned up today."
St Johnstone took the lead with a spectacular goal from Danny Grainger, but were pegged back by Sasa Papac's scrambled effort and Miller's late winner.
"There's loads of positives and the only negative is the result," said McInnes. "For the majority I was really pleased and I felt their winning goal looked more of a free-kick to us.
We're not getting little breaks at the minute which every team needs
St Johnstone manager Derek McInnes
"I think, possibly because there's been three or four wee half shouts for penalty kicks, which I think the referee got right, culminating in that wee half decision, undone us.
"Our front two were a constant threat and I didn't think Rangers ever caused us real anxiety.
"I was delighted with our bravery and decision making, intelligence and organisation. I always felt there was another goal in us.
"We're not getting little breaks at the minute which every team needs. In the three games we've played there's been a lot of enforced changes.
"Murray Davidson going off today made us very light in the middle of the park.
"Young Liam Caddis, who is only 16, came on without a care in the world. I thought he was terrific."
Davidson was taken to hospital for treatment following a head knock during the game but should be OK, McInnes added.
