Saints miss out on defender Moore

St Johnstone have lost out in their bid to bring former Rangers defender Craig Moore to McDiarmid Park.

The 34-year-old Australia international has completed a deal to join Greek Super league outfit Kavala on an 18-month contract.

Moore was released by A-League side Brisbane Roar last month after a fall-out with coach Ange Postecoglou.

Moore was keen to join a European side to boost his chances of playing at this year's World Cup in South Africa.

St Johnstone manager Derek McInnes, a former team mate of Moore at Ibrox, had shown an interest in accommodating the defender.

Moore featured in over 100 matches for Rangers during his time in Scotland and spent time with German side Borrusia Monchengladbach, then Newcastle United, before moving back to his homeland with Brisbane Roar.

Saints captain Kevin Rutkiewicz caught his studs in the turf at training in December and is currently injured, while fellow central defender Stuart McCaffrey has struggled with a groin strain.
