![]() | Friday, 3 August, 2001, 20:32 GMT 21:32 UK Saints snap up MacDonald ![]() MacDonald in action for Rangers against Saints St Johnstone manager Sandy Clark has strengthened his squad, following the loss of Momo Sylla to Celtic, with the signing of Peter MacDonald from Rangers. The 20-year-old cost St Johnstone 125,000 and Clark said he hoped to use more of the 750,000 brought in by the sale of Sylla to add to the squad again. "Obviously Momo has gone, but that's the way football works," said Clark. "Momo had a good opportunity to move to a bigger club. Good education "But we have moved quickly to sign Peter MacDonald and I'm always looking to bring in new players to strengthen the squad. "He's a talented young striker and has scored a few goals at Ibrox and hopefully he'll try to make the step up the ladder with us." Clark said MacDonald would be involved in the first team on Saturday, though he is likely to start on the bench. "Hopefully he'll be a very good player for us and he's had a good education with Rangers," added Clark. "I wouldn't have signed him if I didn't think he could play in my team and I'm hoping he continues to progress, but I don't want to put too much pressure on him." | See also: Other top St Johnstone stories: Links to more St Johnstone stories are at the foot of the page. | ||
