Colchester United striker Scott Vernon says he has not spoken to the U's about a new contract, despite only having two months left on his current one.
The 26-year-old former Oldham and Blackpool man is currently on loan at Colchester's Essex rivals Southend, for whom he has scored four in 15 games.
He told BBC Essex: "Nothing's been said. I've not spoken to the manager since I joined here (Southend).
"Whether I will be speaking to him in the near future remains to be seen."
Vernon had a loan spell at Gillingham cut short by an ankle injury earlier this season.
