Shrimpers' stadium plan
Roots Hall
Southend are planning to leave Roots Hall
Southend United are submitting plans for a new stadium, which could be part of a multi-million pound leisure park.

The proposed site is at Fossets Farm on Eastern Avenue where the club's players currently train, report BBC Essex.

The Blues have less than three years to build a new home following the 4m sale sale and lease back of their current Roots Hall ground to clear debts.

If the plans go ahead there will be a 16,000 capacity stadium and facilities including a cinema and restaurant.
