Southend United manager Steve Tilson has said his side are making life too easy for their opposition.
The Blues have now gone seven games without a win and dropped into the bottom half of League One following Friday's 3-0 away defeat at Hartlepool.
"We've got to be more difficult to beat," Tilson told BBC Essex.
"We were too nice. We were fantastic when we had the ball and played some good stuff, but when we haven't got it we have to be harder to break down."
The defeat to Hartlepool left the Essex club 13th in the table, nine points shy of the play-offs.
Tilson is aware their season could still go one of two ways.

"We're still only two or three wins from being near the top six, but also two or three defeats from being towards the bottom six," he admitted.
"So we've got to make sure we don't get dragged down there.
"People would say we're too good to get dragged down there, but better sides than us have got dragged down.
"So it's important that we stick together and come out the other end."
