Southend United have signed Chelsea midfielder Anthony Grant on loan until the end of the season. The 20-year-old spent last season at Wycombe and played against the Blues for Luton earlier this season.
Grant began his career at Chelsea as a trainee and made his Blues debut in May 2005 against Manchester United.
Meanwhile, Southend have signed 21-year-old Wolves full-back Charlie Mulgrew as a replacement for Steven Hammell, who has joined Motherwell.
