Southend boss Steve Tilson has filled the gap left by Lee Bradbury's move to Bournemouth by signing strikers Leon Clarke and Eric Odhiambo on loan. Clarke, 22, has joined the Shrimpers from Sheffield Wednesday until January.
He has started just four games for the Owls since joining from Wolves for an undisclosed fee in January.
Odhiambo, 18, joins from Leicester for a month and made his first-team debut in the 3-2 Carling Cup defeat against Aston Villa last October.
Assistant boss Paul Brush told the Shrimpers' website: "We saw Eric play before the end of last season and he is very highly rated as a young player everywhere in this country.
"It has been worthwhile to go through all of those weeks to make sure that we got him."
