Bailey has completed his move to Roots Hall |
Southend have completed the signing of Barnet's transfer-listed midfielder Nicky Bailey for 175,000. The 23-year-old made 50 appearances for the Bees last season and captained the side in the absence of Ian Hendon.
He told BBC Essex: "I was disappointed when Southend came in for me in January and Barnet turned them down.
"I had a sulk and hoped they'd still want me in the summer and they did. Them getting relegated hasn't changed my opinion on playing for Southend."
Bailey added: The moment I knew they still wanted me I was keen to get it sorted. I'm looking forward to helping the club and hopefully we've got the new stadium to play in in the next few years as well."
Bailey was Barnet manager Paul Fairclough's first signing for the Underhill outfit when he joined the club from Sutton United.
The Bees were ordered by an Football Association tribunal to pay Sutton for 10,000 for his services.
Bailey made a total of 129 appearances and scored 22 goals for Barnet.
