Southend defender ordered to rest
Adam Barrett
Barrett has been told to rest after tearing a stomach muscle
Southend defender Adam Barrett has been told to rest for a fortnight to allow his stomach injury to settle down.

"There were concerns that it might be a 'Gilmore's groin' or a hernia, and that would have meant being out for four to six weeks," he told the club website.

"We went to see a specialist, but he said I had just torn a stomach muscle and had tried to come back too early.

"He told me to rest up for the next two weeks, and then I should be okay to return after that."
