Ron Martin has become Southend's first chairman since John Main left the
position five years ago. Martin, previously a major shareholder at the club, was elected to the
position as all other shareholders had no objection to him taking on the role.
"The board have wanted this for a while now," Martin said. "They do a lot of good work for the club and I'm proud to be the chairman."
Martin also revealed the club's plans for a new stadium are still ongoing.
