Southend defender Adam Barrett has signed a two-year contract extension keeping him at Roots Hall until 2008. Barrett, 25, joined the Shrimpers from Bristol Rovers in the summer of 2004, and told the club website: "We've exceeded expectations.
"The reason I've signed is that I want to see this club in the Championship - being in the top six at this time of year gives us a great chance to go up.
"The talks have been going on for a few weeks - I'm glad it's done and dusted."
