Southampton head coach Jan Poortvliet wants to strengthen his backroom staff by adding fellow Dutchman Dean Gorre.
Gorre, a former Surinam international midfielder, has recently been assisting at St Mary's on a non-contract basis.
He had spells in England at Huddersfield and Barnsley after starting his playing career at Ajax in the Netherlands.
Poortvliet told BBC Radio Solent: "He played with a lot of famous coaches and I know him very well."
Currently, David Hockaday and Stewart Henderson both work with the first-team as assistant coaches.
Another Dutchman, Mark Wotte, is the Academy director and also reserve team manager.
Poortvliet added: "He (Gorre) is a big helping hand and we all hope that he stays, but that depends on a contract."
