Former Manchester City footballer Ray Ranson will not take a place on the board of Southampton if the proposed takeover bid is successful. Ranson has brokered the deal with the Saints, and has been acting on behalf of the hedge fund company SISU.
Sources close to SISU told BBC Radio Solent it had every intention of keeping the club's current executive team in place to allow some continuity.
The takeover bid was revealed to the stock exchange last Monday.
SISU is waiting to find out if major shareholders Michael Wilde and Rupert Lowe are going to agree to the deal.
