John Gorman is poised to return to Southampton as chief scout, reports BBC Radio Solent. Gorman was assistant to former Saints boss Glenn Hoddle for just over a year until March 2001, when he left to follow Hoddle to Tottenham.
He also assisted Hoddle when he was England manager, and has also had spells as manager of wycombe Wanderers and Northampton.
Meanwhile, European scout Terry Cooper will be leaving the club.
