 Bale is Wales' youngest ever international |
Southampton defender Gareth Bale marked his 17th birthday by signing a two-year professional contract at St Mary's. The young prospect had been linked with potential moves to other clubs, but Bale told the club's website: "I am delighted to have signed.
"I am very happy at Southampton and I can learn a lot more here than at any other club where I would just be a reserve team player."
Bale made his senior debut for Wales against Trinidad and Tobago in May.
