Sir Clive Woodward had his first hands-on role at Southampton in Saints Reserves' 2-1 win at West Ham on Tuesday night. Former England rugby coach Woodward assisted Stuart Henderson, who will remain in charge of Saints reserves.
Chairman Rupert Lowe said: "It's not a take-over by Clive Woodward as some people have suggested.
"Stuart will pick the team and we'll see how it's working but Harry Redknapp is on board and supports this."
