John McMahon will stay at Shrewsbury Town |
Shrewsbury coach John McMahon has decided to remain at the club after meeting with new manager Paul Simpson. McMahon was assistant to former Town manager Gary Peters but was placed in charge of first-team duties after Peters left the club last week.
"We haven't discussed titles, but as far as I'm concerned it will be in the same capacity," the 58-year-old told BBC Radio Shropshire.
"It's my job to assist Paul now in everything we can do to get results."
He added: "I was pleased to be invited to stay as part of the staff at the club."
In McMahon's two games in charge, Town managed a 1-1 draw against Rotherham United and a 0-0 draw against high-flying Darlington at Oteley Road.
Simpson's first game in charge will be at Macclesfield on Saturday.
